Hi there,
the other night i heard this on NZ National Radio....
Cattle (The Plow That Broke The Plains) - Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra/Neville Mariner [Thompson]
..... with some very very beautiful clarinet playing. I'd hazard a guess that it was Michelle Zukovsky. Anyone know for sure?

Hi,
It wouldn't be Michelle. I auditioned for them in 2008 and got to the semis. The guy that got offered the job had been subbing for a year or two before hand. Sadly I can't remember his name but the orchestra did send a letter to all participants to rub it in ;-) If I find it i'll let you know.

Peter,
This is actually a very old recording. The CD was issued in 1990 but the recording may be even older than that. I think I have a copy on vinyl. Don't know who the clarinetist is.
Best regards,
jnk

If you're talking about who's principal now, it's Joshua Ranz. He also plays bass clarinet for the Orange County Pacific Symphony. He is a fantastic clarinet player.

When Marriner was conducting, Mitchell Lurie was the orchestra's principal.
