I have started to have an intermittent problem with throat A/Ab taking time to speak, or sometimes not speaking at all. This happens unexpectedly, so its difficult to be exactly precise or replicate. But I think the below is accurate :
1/ it happens when I descend from full tube clarion, going from C /C#/B ( sometimes D) to A/Ab without passing through Bb.
2/I fail most often when I do a quaver sequence right Eb, left C, A,C,A
3/ it occurs slurring or tonguing
4/ I havnt had the problem descending via Bb throat
5/ This happens on R13. My plastic clarinet hasn't ( yet !) played up.
I would be grateful if you could point me towards isolating whats most likely for remedy:
Air : should I be doing something special when dropping from full tube clarion to open tube?
Embouchure/tongue position : ditto
Fingers : I usually leave right fingers down for the A, but I can get no speaks with or without right fingers in place.
Reeds : I get the problem using 2.5/3/ 3.5. But I do use them straight from the box.
Thanks in advance
