Yeah, I saw that after I posted mine. He's got it down better than me at this point. I've played it on A in the past, but getting the high D has been very hit or miss.... mostly miss. The other day a friend suggested a new fingering for the B and C#, and it is just too easy. The main problem for me now is not the high notes but the stupid A scale leading into it. Man, that's fast.

Your E-flat You Tube was great! What kind of mouthpiece and reed do you use on E-flat? What fingerings are you using for the high F#-G#-D#-G#? I have never been able to play that passage where it was written. I always took it down an octave. Thanks.

Hey DAVE, would you possibly share the fingerings you found for the high B and C#? I'm really interested now that you mention it!

No problem! Here you go!
For the high B and C#----- for the B use an overblown throat Bb. For the C# overblow a throat E adding the 2 bottom side keys. Too easy. I can't believe this has eluded us for so long. Try it. I bet you'll get it the first time.
For the Mahler:
F# is an overblown clarion Bb. G# is T+bottom side key. D# is overblown throat G#. That's it. The tricky part is getting back up to the high G#; that's not easy!

On my Eb I use a Vandoren B40 with a cut off White Master 3. That reed was kinda spent.
I just got a Backun today. I like it, but don't know what reed to use with it yet...

That's awesome, I'll have to try those fingerings out. I knew about the Eb ones because those are the fingerings that Peter Hadcock recommends in his Eb Clarinet excerpts book. My biggest problem is getting the F# to not be so sharp, unbelievably, when returning to it the second time.

Wondrful playing! I know I already said that! I really enjoyed it!
What MP are you using and what horn? I refaced an old Selmer and have a Buffet horn. I've heard that Selmer plays better in tune, have you played around with assorted company horns? I also enjoyed the feel of the horn you achieved, meaning it sounds very free flowing and open through the instrument, no dead notes.
Fast fingers lots of fun to hear.

All my clarinets are Yamahas except my bass which is a Buffet. My Eb and bass mouthpieces are Vandoren B40s, and my Bb/A mouthpiece is a Backun MoBa A. The reed I use with the Backun is a 4.5 Rico Grand Concert Evolution. Sometimes they are a little hard, but mostly I like the sound I get with them. I'm experimenting now with some 4s. They are easier and I'm thinking I basically get the same sound out of them.
Oh, my A clarinet is a CSV and my Bb is a SEV. Eb is a 681.

Thanks for responding.
I designed the Grand Concert reeds. They do play a bit stiff on some mouthpieces. Wide rails take away some of the freedom. I designed the reeds using rails on the medium side. Thinning down the reed rails with a reed knife doesn't seem to help much. Perhaps have a good MP refacer thin the rails just a bit.
Thanks again for responding. Hope this info helps.

Oh, I like the GC reeds very much. I've decided to go ahead and stick with the 4.5 strength. Overall, it's a better fit for what I do.
Any chance of you guys at Rico making a really nice Eb reed? Since the vast majority of Eb players all cut down Bb reeds, how about designing a reed that mimics the cut down reeds? Personally, a cut down V12 doesn't give me the flexibility or the right sound. However, a cut down White Master works beautifully. I don't know the specifics, maybe it's the narrower width?
