Hey all! I was browsing through a website and noticed that there are scholarships available to go to a summer institute that performs at the Kennedy Center. I've never heard of that program. Does anybody know anything about it? It sounds like an amazing opportunity! Thanks!

National Symphony Orchestr Kennedy Center summer institute is a really nice program. I think they give out scholarship based on what state you are in.
Every participants get to stay at the dorms in DC (I can't think of the name of the University) which is right by kennedy Center. There are rehearsal daily and also you get to study with a member from the NSO twice a week! In fact, when i went... they even gave us spending money for food and stuff.
This is a camp that's small and very relaxing (if you want it to be). Tere aren't too many things scheduled and just hanging around DC can be pretty fun. Also, when I was there we had elizabeth Shultz (I think that's the right spelling) was our conductor and she was just really great.

i was in the NSO fellowship program, and they offered free scholorship to the summer institute, while the summer institute in my opinion is not highly classes compared to festivals like NRO, PMF, and music academy, it is very good for young high schoolers. I don't know about other scholorships, but all memebers of the fellowhsip program are offered free scholorship to the summer institute.
