Does anyone know if there are any size differences between the Selmer Privilege and the Buffet 1193 low C bass clarinets? I think the necks might be shaped a little differently but I basically wanted to know if either instrument could fit in the same case equally well or if one instrument has a longer or wider piece in some way.

They are not significantly different in general but different enough that they won't necessarily fit in the same case. I've tried the Selmer 67 in a Buffet 1193 case and it couldn't fit because the length of the joints (or maybe just one of the joints, don't remember) and also the shape/position of the keys. Actually I have both models here right now with their stock cases and can check later if you're interested, or aqnything specific about them. A different case might be able to fit both or just one of them. Any case, if it fits both, would most likely fit one of them better than the other.

Yes, if you could take some measurements and/or give me more specifics that'd be great!
I'm hoping to get Marcus Bonna to design me a bass case, but he wants to see an instrument in person to take measurements and my contact in Brasil plays Selmer. Since the Bonna cases hold pieces with foam inserts (attached with velcro) which can be moved, it should be more flexible than other cases.

I assume you want the measurements of the length of the joints. Other than that (or if not) what specifics do you need?

Upper joint:
Selmer 67 - 39.2 cm
Buffet 1193 - 39.7 cm
Lower joint:
Selmer 67 - 65.7 cm
Buffet 1193 - 64.5 cm
The Buffet fits decently in the Selmer case. The lower joint is slightly (it's really just slightly) looser, but a pretty good fit. The upper joint is more or less as firm fit, except the trill keys are a bit cramped (e.g. the case tends to open side Eb/Bb).
The Selmer doesn't fit so well in the Buffet case. The lower joint is simply too long for the cut out. The upper joint is very cramped. The banana Eb/Bb key on the Buffet is lower and the Selmer key is right at the end of cut out for it (a little too much). The body register key and top trill key post at the opposite side of it are really tight (too tight). Other than that the upper joint fits fine.
Also the Buffet case has a much firmer material. If it was made from the same material as the Selmer case the upper joint would probably fit fine. The longer lower joint would still be a problem though.
If you are interested in anything else let me know what specifically and I can check or measure.

Also check the bell size. So far I have found that my King Marigaux bell fits in no other case than the original.

I'll have both here for a few more days. The bell and neck have significant differences, depending on type of case cut out. You can email me if you want more details.
