I'm looking for a recommended shop in Washington DC, for mouthpiece trials, reed choices, accessories, etc.
I'll be there the week of Sept. 5th, rehearsing with the World Doctor's Orchestra, playing Mahler 2 on Sept. 11th at Strathmore. One of the European clarinetists asked me for a recommended shop where he could try mpc's, buy reeds, etc, commenting how favorable the Euro was to the USD!
We're all staying in the Dupont Circle area, rehearsing at the Washington Club.
Thanks so much!
David

I like Washington Music Center and Dales Music, if Dales is still in bizz Washington Music has an amazing assortment and discounted products. I sometimes order reeds from there. Maybe 1 box to test the quality and if its good cane I will order a dozen boxes of the thick cane. The saleman I deal with usually keeps notes when the boxes are sent first sent from the factory.

Washington Music Center
http://www.wmcworld.com/
is a good choice for equipment.
Dale Music
http://dalemusic.com/
is a good choice for sheet music
Both are near subway stations (Wheaton and Silver Spring) on the same line as Dupont Circle.

Dale Music is terrific for sheet music. Been in business in the same location well over 70 years. For equipment, I'd call ahead & check on their stock before making the schlepp out there. (Dale also has a small but interesting collection of instruments--boxwood clarinets, sarrusophones, keyed bugles and whatnot--hanging on the walls.)
