Has anyone got the Lomax Firebird clarinet mouthpiece? If so, what are your thoughts?

I have not played one but collaborated with Mike Lomax by providing Chedeville mouthpiece blanks. Of course the end result is Mike's work and being next to him at ClarinetFest it seemed to be a popular trial moouthpiece.

And here I thought it was meant to compete with the Ebhn Camry, Nabuk Mustang or Miths Cougar.

I played one- for about 3min- at Clarinetfest, in a loud noisy room with a terrible reed. As far as i could tell, it lacked the reassuring darkness of a Zinner A blank but instead offered what i'd describe as a "concentration of sound" that was more centred around the higher harmonics. The two facings i played were very responsive but had a little more "back-pressure" than i am used to. (facing wise- what I played reminded me of Vandoren 5RV Lyre)

I have played it and own 2... a 1.04 and a 1.10 that Mike is now making. It has great presence and is not as dark as most Moba mouthpieces (I have 2).
It is very centered and projects great, very responsive and excellent high register. People who hear me regularly have commented on the great sound.
Give them a try, as we all know.... what one person loves another does not.
