20s Buffet

Into my hands recently came a late 20s Buffet. My brother-the-repair-tech fixed it up and it plays like a charm. I love my R-13, and it will always be my best clarinet. But this one is just fun! It's really bright and in-your-face. I'm looking forward to using it for jazzy stuff... (and if my band director will ever wake up and pull Rhapsody in Blue for which the solo I've already learned). Anyway, I just wanted to share.

For some reason, it's easier to do the Rhabsody gliss on the older horn. It feels like the rings are rounded a little more. Is this just me? They feel much rounder on "The Old Buffet". They're kind of squared off on the R-13.

Amanda, I have never done the Rhapsody... the gliss escapes me, but the 1925 Buffet I picked up yesterday almost does it and is also very bright. Not the same feel as the 1952 R-13 but kind of fun!

The tone isn't as pretty as my old Evette Master... that's one wonderful instrument, best I ever played!
