Hi guys,
Im looking at performing the entirety of the Poulenc sonata this year in one of my 2 recitals, and am particularly having issues with the last section making the run smooth running up to G# before the final two F#s, despite trying multiple fingerings i am struggling to find one of which i can see myself in the future playing smoothly, so i was just curious as to what fingerings you would use in this passage?
Any help at all will be greatly appreciated
Thanks
Simon

Here's what I use:
For the F# use the "normal" fingering: TR OXO OOO Eb
For the G# use this: TR OXO XOO Eb

I find preferable:
F# TR OXO OOO
G# TR OXX XXX C#
...because the F# being flat doesn't notice at that speed, and the G# is more stable, being the harmonic of a longer tube.
If the G# is flattish on your instrument, you can substitute:
TR OXX XOX C#

I do sometimes use Tony's second G# option actually...The fingering I listed before is the one my teacher wrote in my part in 1983...

For G# I used Th|oxx'|xoo|F#/C# which worked quite well.
There are heaps of good choices that will work though, it's good to have options

Many good choices -
Tony's options are excellent
I tend to use Katrina's fingering with the addition of the LH (sliver/banana) key.
Thus:
TR O X ' O / X O O Eb
...GBK
