 Violin and Clarinet Duet Scans

Does anyone know where I could purchase or download PDFs of any violin and clarinet duets, such as Hindemith's Plöner Musiktag? I've got to play with a violinist in two days, and don't have time to wait for shipping.

Thanks for the recommendation, Joe, but I'm afraid that there doesn't seem to be any appropriate music at the site.

I've also tried IMSLP, to no avail.

Hindemith's music is protected by copyright, so there's no (legal) free source.

The Plöner Musiktag duets are available for $20 at http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listing/B001AE8J3A/ref=dp_olp_used?ie=UTF8&condition=used. If you get in touch with the seller, and pay the price, you might be able to convince him/her to email a scan, or at least get overnight delivery by FedEx.

At the end of the Wikipedia entry on Hindemith http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paul_Hindemith there are links to several external sources.

I'm not sure whether an edition of Hindemith's complete works has appeared, but if you're in school, or you or a friend have access to an academic music library, the music reference librarian will know exactly where to look. The violin prof may well have a copy.

If you're good enough to play Hindemith on a couple of day's practice, you should be good enough to take any duets for two equal instruments and transpose your part.

Finally, the moral of the story is that you need to get your music more than two days before the concert. It won't help you now but it's frankly unprofessional to let yourself get in this kind of bind.

Mr. Shaw,

I appreciate your genuinely valuable advice, and even your chiding remarks, however inappropriate. If this were a real concert, I would of course have had everything arranged far in advance. But it is not--just playing with a guest at a little family get-together.

If it's just something informal and you don't have any specific works in mind, you might expand your search to include clarinet and flute (or even clarinet and oboe) duets.

Also, if you live near a music store, even if it doesn't have a large selection of sheet music, you could see if they carry the Hal Leonard Rubank 78 Duets for Flute And Clarinet, Vol. 2, Advanced. A lot of places carry it.

Best regards,
jnk
