 looking for a teacher
Author: Remus

As I said in a previous thread, I'm looking to get back into lessons. I took lessons through Schmitt Music for a while, but that is my only experience with private lessons.

I have looked at Schmitt Music again to continue my lessons, but I'm wondering if anyone has any specific suggestions of teachers/establishments. I live about 20-30 minutes from the Cities and I've been playing for five years.

I'd be grateful for any sort of help. Thanks!

It's funny that you volunteered yourself Katrina because I've met one of your students before! I won't name names, but the person in question had nothing but excellent things to say. :)
Unfortunately, the drive to Roseville is a bit much for my family and I right now, otherwise I would sign up for your lessons in the blink of an eye.

Hehe...if you're near Edina, the Schmitt's there has some fine teachers as well...Paul Fonfara for one. The only other folks I know that are good are at MacPhail...

Thank you so much for your suggestions! My family and I are looking into our options over the next week or two and we couldn't do it without you.

Hello from MN! :) If you happen to be on the east side of the cities at all, I would highly suggest Dr. Stacy Kern - one of my former private teachers; easily the best teacher I had for clarinet before I headed out to college life. I haven't kept in touch with her very much lately, so I don't know if this info. is still accurate:

http://www.supportwbband.org/wbband/lessons.html

She is listed as playing bassoon, but she's great with clarinet.

St. Paul could be a bit of a drive, but I'll give you my email address and we'll see what we can do. :)
