I have a clarinet that i think is very old but im not sure. It doesnt have a serial number on it and the logo says "auguste buffet paris" with two stars underneath and a harp above the logo. Ive been looking around and the modern logo started in 1884 so im thinking it is from before then? but i also cant believe it would be that old. Any ideas?

If you use the search function for "auguste buffet" without the quotes you will unearth a fair amount of information from previous threads. One of the things you should find is that Auguste Buffet did not found, but was rather a competitor of, Buffet, Crampon et Cie.
Best regards,
jnk

So auguste buffet and buffet are two different brands? If so what are the main differences between the two?

yeah but they all have a serial number on the clarinets the post about so it doesnt really help with finding the age of mine. Since the buffet and the auguste buffet are different brands is the auguste buffet cheaper? maybe less quality?
