I was wondering how many other people out there know about, have tried, or currently play on the opera reeds by brancher?
i had never heard of them until my teacher had me try one, and i now i love them. and whenever i try to order them they are back ordered or even double backordered.
plus, i think i am used to vandoren's stability, but it's very interesting because when i receive boxes, i open them up and it's a 50/50 chance they will be too soft for me or too hard. and some boxes come with ten reeds instead of six, or black instead of gold print. does anyone know what i am talking about? why would this happen? does anyone else love them like me?

I ordered some opera reeds from BW and WW before Christmas, along with a new funky looking ligature. I've yet to receive either yet, but when I do hopefully it will be and improvement from my Vandorens.

Leah, I absolutely agree with you about Opera reeds, and I posted something on this a few weeks ago. I bought a box of Opera and found 10 out of 10 to be really useful and six out of 10 to be superb. I thought I must have hit a lucky streak, so I bought two more boxes and they were just as good. They seem to go on for ever, and I'm still on the first box. The only problem with these reeds is that they are cut slightly square at the tip. They fit very well on Vandoren mouthpieces, but if you use a mp with a rounder tip, you might have to trim the reeds ever so slightly with a reed-cutter. Over here in France they cost about the same as standard Vandorens.
