What reed are YOU using on your M14 mouthpiece?
I'm have been using Rico Royal 2.5's but have recently moved to a 3.
Are you satisfied with this mouthpiece, and the tone and ease with which it plays?
I'm using it on my Buffet E11 with the original ligature.
Thanks for your input.

Rico Royal 3's seem a bit soft for that particular type of mouthpiece to me, unless you're in your first year of playing. A better Rico reed for that mouthpiece would be the Grand Concert thick blank #3 or 3 1/2. Another good reed would be a Vandoren V12 #3 or 3 1/2. Tone quality and response would improve greatly on these reeds.

Craig,
If I were you I would use something better than just the plain Rico. Atleast Rico Royal. I use Grand Concert Select Traditional 3.5 and I got them for only $13 perbox.

Craig......
I have been playing on a Vandoren M14 for several months now. I use Vandoren V12 3.5 reeds and a Rovner Dark ligature. I, and my teacher, are satisfied with the sound produced.

I like the sound, but find I need much harder reeds, at least a 3.5 V12. The mouthpiece makes me flat unless I use a short barrel. Then again my colleagues go above A=442 in a theatre pit. So not totally happy.
Chris.
