I'm trying to find some bass clarinet doo-dads such as lapel pins, mugs, etc. but I've had absolutely no luck finding such a thing. I've already looked through The Friendship House catalog and The Music Stand. Does anyone out there have any more ideas or should I just give up ??? Thanks for your help !!

I have seen brass bass clarinet Christmas tree ornaments in Music Stand catalogs. Of course, this is probably only in the catalogs that come out before Christmas.

I have a very large bass clarinet trinket I bought at a music store. It's so large, it appears to be full size. I even tried playing it at orchestra rehearsal, and it actually sounded a lot like a real bass clarinet! Unfortunately, it was rather expensive, so you probably wouldn't want to buy one. It cost me over $800! It says "Vito Reso-tone" on it. It's mostly black, with some shiny metal parts on the top and bottom.

I found a bass clarinet necktie a while back, but now all I can find is a soprano clarinet tie. www.rushties.com

Ah! Here it is. http://www.frontdsk.com/ties/music.html
Guessing from your name, this is probably not your cup of tea.

My husband gave me a bass clarinet pendant, about five years ago. It has a hanging loop for wearing on a chain as a necklace, or it could hang on a keychain. Music stores sell this pendant. The keys on the bass look sort of ... approximate, something I've noticed on other clarinet-themed jewelry.

I used to have a bass clarinet pencil sharpener. The business end of the thing was underneath the bell end of the horn. The person who got it for me thought it was a saxophone.

There was a company called Future Primitive who made various instrument pins and jewellery whih were well detailed - not sure if they're still around.

After 14 years, I'm not surprised the link is dead. I hope that, by now, Heidi has found what she was looking for! I'm curious to know what the point was in resurrecting this thread.

People browse through old strings all the time. I get messages responding to things I wrote back in the Sneezy days. It's easy to forget that you're looking at a string from (in this case) 1999. That's why Mark went from an older date-based BBS to a thread-based one with Sneezy.
If an old link is dead, and someone wants current information, the string can be revived with a mouse click. The point is that Alec Thigpen wanted a trinket now and asked in this string rather than posting a fresh query.
I love it when this happens. It keeps things together. That's the genius of strings. When I come across an interesting YouTube video, I add it to the invaluable string that David Blumberg began in 2008, http://test.woodwind.org/clarinet/BBoard/read.html?f=1&i=367231&t=266544. I wish everyone did.
EGullet has a string that began in 2003 and has only recently dwindled. Its immortality is based on an endlessly fresh subject, how to cook a pork shoulder, and even more on having the best title ever. It's called Behold My Butt http://forums.egullet.org/topic/25900-behold-my-butt/.

Looks to me like he was simply reporting a dead link. Where does he say he was looking for something?
