Hi
A new clarinet just arrived at my home. As a new instrument, are there anything that needs to be done or taken care of?
Thank you
Ken

If it's a wood horn learn to take care of it properly. Opinions vary on some issues even on this BB but try reading through as many of the old posts as you can stand and visit often. You will learn a lot here.

If it is wood, there is likely a break in proceure, check the literature that came with it or ask the dealer.

Ken,
Don't play more than 20-30 minutes every day for at least a month, make sure your swab the baby and clean the water off the joints, and holes every time you've finished playing.

If, on the other hand, it is a plastic instrument, there should be no limitation as to how much you play the instrument. Of course, swabbing etc. is still good for a plastic horn to preserve the pads and keep stuff from growing in it. Hmmm...I'm guessing that a Buffet Greenline instrument wouldn't need breaking in either.
