 Date this clarinet...

This is a metal clarinet of my Dad's that he used in college. I'm guessing it's about 50-60 years old. The only markings on it are AB3487, Champion Made in the USA. I'm looking to more accurately date this clarinet and its value if any. Please help if you can.

I had a Champion metal clarinet a few years ago - I ended up just throwing it in the trash. Many metal clarinets were student models and I believe the Champion was no different. There is a specific metal clarinet website out there ( www.silver-clarinet.com ) which I can't recall which may have more information on that specific model. But don't expect it's value to be much more than 2 figures but someone else may have better information.

Your dad may be able to date it better. If he bought it new about 60 yrs ago that would make it about 1950.
