The Cheapest Place Online to Buy Mouthpieces
Author: Andy

Hello Everybody,
Thank you for helping me choose my mouthpiece so far. I am sure I am going to get a Vandoren M13 or M13 Lyre and I am going to buy it soon. So I ws wondering if any of could find a cheaper place than www.woodwindbrasswind.com which currently sells M13 and M13 Lyre for $58.75 and $7.75. That is currently the cheapest place I know and has great service. Thank you for all the information in advance.

Andy - I think it will be hard to beat the wwandbw price. You may get a close match.

I recently got some mpcs for trial. The one I liked best had some very minor cosmetic scratches. They further discounted the price.

One other thought is to add some items, like reeds, to the order. You may be able to get discounted reeds and mpc for the same shipping cost.

Please go over to the Resources/Retail section and look at a number of places. There are 4 or 5 places that have large selections and most probably will be competitive with the WW&BW proces, if not better.

While the WW&BW is a fine store - it is not "the world".

I really like the folks at Muncy winds, for lots of reasons (not just because my folks live up the holler from their store).

May I also recommend that you buy a mouthpiece patch with your new mouthpiece?

With your choice of vendors, do ask if they have a better price.

You're obviously net savvy, so drop them email and see what can be done for you.

As MC says, if you buy a few of your goodies now, you may save a bundle.

I have had some good results with Dietze musis as well, dmh@inetnebr.com, although their selection is a little thin.

I think you have mad a good choice, I keep coming back to my M13, and I have mouthpieces squirrelled away all over the apartment so my wife can't find out how many I really have!

Check out WeinerMusic.com He usually has some good deals and doesn't charge shipping if you order online or through the mail.

Oh no! Not Weiner! Be afraid, be VERY afraid!

Is there anyone working there that actually plays an instrument?

Yuch.

You might check Sneezys "Classified" or Ebay. FYI--I have an M-13 that I would be willing to part with for a very resonable renumerance. It is in perfect shape as I purchased it but never used it (typical "equipement junkie" kind of clarinetist, I guess)

Apparently "Anji" has had some bad experience(s) with Weiner Music in N.Y. I've ordered things from them occasionally over the last 5 years or so and have had no real problems. I will note that sometimes their order-takers have been a bit 'cavalier', shall we say?

Oops, Andy I just saw the thread where you discussed mouthpiece choices! Ah ever attentive me. But I get to see my name in print twice this way.

With the discrepancies present between mouthpieces of the same make (and even model) due to the somewhat lax quality control in some companies, choosing a mouthpiece is going to require obtaining several of the same model and selecting the best thereof.

My old Marcellus M08 was wearing down from use and I needed a backup anyway, so I went down to a local shop to try out their stock. Even with fifteen boxes all marked "Marcellus M08" had it not been for the printing on the mouthpieces themselves I would've sworn that they were all completely different. I eventually took three home and ran them through the paces for a week or two before settling on the "one."

While looking for a Vandoren M14 some months ago I again went through the process of playing through a store's inventory of ten or so of these mouthpieces. Even though the variation between these mouthpieces wasn't as significant, the fact that some were different "enough" to have a different feel and sound from the majority in the batch seems to indicate that their mouthpiece stock isn't as precisely manufactured as they'd like.

Just something to consider. =)

I found a site with a very good price, I found it through google.com and the address is (ttp://www.daybreakenterprises.com/wood_prod/vanclarimpc.htm) The M13 mouthpiece is only $53.98. w/ free shipping. Thanks for all of your information so far! You will see me in most posts asking more questions because I find this Phorum very interesting and there is much information I can obtain from it!
