The two P-M clarinets I have were well worth the effort of overhauling them (I can't say 'cost' of overhauling as I did the work myself). Not familiar with the "American Gloritone" model, though -- mine are an "Artist Model" and an "Empire State" (which are practically identical, other than the former being a full-Boehm and the latter a "3/4-Boehm", that is with all the bells and whistles except for the low-Eb).
