I was able to remove bad smell from two clarinets.
One is 1920 wood Bundy has really bad antique smell.
Another one is Noblet from heavy smoker.
You need ARM & HAMMER POWDER(this is Baking Soda, not washer detergent), and
- Towel : to clean wood surface and tenon socket, bell
- Qtip : to clean tone holes
- Clarinet/Flute pad saver : to clean clarinet bore
Disassemble keys and remove corks.
Not a big deal to clean metal parts.
Wet your towel/pad saver, apply powder and scrub wood surface, socket and bore with pad saver.
Clean towel/pad saver and wet it again but without powder.
Do same procedure.
Remove water with dry towel or kitchen paper towel.
Leave clarinet to get dried.
Repeat it until you don’t smell.
With Qtip, do same procedure to clean tone holes.
Apply oil(I applied Doctor’s bore oil in and out) and leave it overnight.
Apply wax(I used Bee Wax).
Done.

You must remove the source of the odor, be it mold, mildew or tobacco. A thorough cleaning, mold spore destruction and replacing cases, pads or complete mouthpiece refurbishing may be necessary to permanently give a clean smelling environment. Odor absorbing subanstances such as baking soda only remove today's odor not long term results. My experience.

I agree. I've tried baking soda. It does work on a clean case but I've found the only way to remove the visible residue of the baking soda is to re-wash the case lining. For me, cleaning the case and then leaving it open to bright sunshine is easier. Sunshine is just as good a deoderant as baking soda. Doesn't work so well in a refrigerator, of course! ;-)

I repeated 7 times and it took 10 days for me to say it’s good.
Case, pads and corks are new.
It’s been two weeks since, horn is still fresh.
