In my quest to get to the most original version of the Mozart (I'm intending to purchase a basset clarinet extension from Wurlitzer that will enable me to play down to the low c) I've heard about an interesting movie in French from a librarian in the city library in Winterthur, Switzerland. He said it was made by Gilles Thome, entitled "Enigma K. 621b" and produced by Kalamazoo International Prod. in Paris. I would love any information about this that you might know of....even how to get in touch with Kalamazoo Int'l, becuase I'd like to see the movie. It seems to be about exactly what i'm interested in...the basset clarinet of Stadler for which the concerto was written!
Thanks in advance!

Try sending an e-mail to show@ibc.org. They produced the filming of "MOZART K621b, THE ENIGMA" last year at a film festival.
Also check out a presentation given in 1998 at ClarFest, Ohio at this website: clarinet.org/research/koons98.HTM Interesting info that is also lpublished in the magazine, The Clarinet of the International Clarinet Association (to which,IMHO, we should all belong)
Hope this helps, good clarineting

Karen, I saw this movie on TV.. very excellent.
Try emailing TSR (télévision Suisse Romande).
--> www.tsr.ch
They broadcasted it, last year.. I don't remember when... but I think it was on TSR2
Best wishes

The Koons article on editions of K. 622 can't be gotten to directly. You have to go to http://www.clarinet.org/Research.htm and then find and click on "Comparing Published Editions of Mozarts Clarinet Concerto, K. 622 - Keith Koons '98."
Lots of other good stuff there.
Best regards.
