I think I have a problem with my instrument:
I cannot transition from 1st line e to high b; likewise for 1st space f to high c. I have corked pads and am having sealing issues. Any remedies? I presume an overhaul would solve the problem. I can run my chromatic scale to high g 4th ledger above staff.
Help me.

I agree with Curious. It could be as simple as one pad in the upper joint not sealing but could also be more complicated. Have your tech do a check for leaks before you do anything else. Also, make sure your register key is opening enough and the register tube is clean. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

Thanks for the reply. I thought cork pads were better than the pads of different textures. I was not able to get many notes out last week until I started to move them with a pin. Maybe I need a professional to work on the problem. This has never really happened to me.

Thanks Ed. I did have a hunch that the register key needs to be removed (not by me!) and major cleaning to take place.

Thanks, this problem is important to me. Next month I am playing "Rhapsody In Blue" for the first time. I waited 47 years for this opportunity. Can't mess up.
