Hey everyone, i'm wondering if you can help me! it's nine days until my concert where i'm playing the artie shaw clarinet concerto. i've got it all sorted, apart from that damned G - C gliss at the end! I can hit the notes individually, no problem, but slurred altogether, thats where i have a problem. I've decided to simply play a chromatic scale (without the Bb, as I've been told its not always used!) and i am fine with getting up to the A, but there seems to be a break when going from the A to the B. currently i am managing to overcome that break very rarely. i'm wondering if there's anyone out there who could give me some suggestions! For you information, my fingerings are as follows:
G: OXX XXO Eb
G#: OXX XOO Eb
A: OXX OOO Eb
and my current fingerings for B and C are:
B: A OXX XXO Eb
C: A XOO XOO Eb
Thank you for your help!

For the B and the C, I recommend using the Ab key instead of the A key. It is usually easier to slur to from the high A. Also, try using the left hand F#/C# lever instead of the Eb key on the B and the C. And for the B, you might try using the first two fingers of the left hand instead, so the fingerings become:
B: TR Ab XXO | XXO F#
C: TR Ab XOO | XOO F#
Hope this helps!
P.S. If you did want to play the Bb, play:
Bb: TR Ab OXX C# | OOO F#
You have to slide your right pinky coming from the A, but it seems to work.

I'm not sure about the gliss, but here's something that may help:
After playing the A with your standard fingering, remove your left hand thumb from the hole, while keeping the register key down. If you add the C-sharp key this will give you a nice B-flat. It's very easy to slur to this B-flat from many other notes and I use this fingering a lot (got it from Jack McCaw).
Maybe from this B-flat fingering you can find some easier ways to slur up to the B and C?
