I have a choice between a Buffet C 13 Clarinet and an older Selmer Paris (pre-1931). If both are in the same condition (both having been recently overhauled and repaded with no cracks) and are basically the same money, does anyone have a recomendation as to which one is the better instrument for the money? I suppose I fall in to the "intermediate" bracket and am not yet ready to spend the money for a profesional clarinet. Thanks for any suggestions.

Hey GT - that's a tough one. If you are a jazz player, the Selmer would be a great find; if "serious", the Buffet is likely the best. Try both and see which you like best - that's probably the best way to decide. Good luck!!!

I would encourage you to pick the one you like best. However given the age of the Selmer, I would say that either the C-13 is underpriced or the Selmer overpriced.

Are we talking about horns that cost less than $1000?
Unless you're talking about less than $500 for either horn, you can do better on price and performance.
Even Yugos had nice paint. One test drive is not enough when buying a car, either.
