Jeremy,

You might want to consider this organization:

http://www.acmp.net/index.php

It would at least give you an entry point into amateur music-making in small groups, and if you choose the online-only membership option, it is free. Their list of workshops all over the world is very comprehensive and helpful.

Is there a community band in your area? I wouldn't be surprised if there were. That is also usually a great re-entry point for players resuming playing after a break. Google "community band" and the names of your city and nearby cities. I know for sure there are some in Sunnyvale and down that way, but I will bet there are more local bands, too -- Hayward? Fremont? San Mateo?

Many, many years ago, I recorded the second part for a bunch of duets (on reel-to-reel tape, that's how many years) and have been playing with myself ever since. [tongue]

There's a comprehensive list of community bands here:
http://www.boerger.org/c-m/groups.shtml

(There are many bands in your area - search the list by city or zip code)

Also, take a look at Chamber Musicians of Northern California
http://www.cmnc.org/index.php

Try Craigslist as well: http://sfbay.craigslist.org/muc/

Also, check out the music department at CSEbay
