I am looking for a recording of HW playing Mozart-not the Boston more recent recording-but one I believe recorded in the 70's or so. If anyone knows where I can find this, please respond. Thanks!

Boston Records: http://www.bostonrecords.com/servlet/the-Clarinet/Categories

Also try i-tunes. There are at least 2 different recordings, one with the BSO and the other is the one from Boston Records.

FWIW, the Boston Records and older Deutsche Grammophone recordings are actually the same recording. (Boston records may have remastered it -- the timings are slightly different between the two.) According to the back cover of the Boston Records CD, Boston records licensed the DGG recording. The recording was originally made near the end of 1978. The DGG recording is copyrighted 1980. Seiji Ozawa conducted the BSO.

No need to apologize. You posted accurate useful information. If you hadn't posted the link, I wouldn't have uncovered what I found. (I went from your Boston Records link to Amazon.com, where I found an image of the Boston Records back cover that disclosed the licensing agreement.)

Best regards,

There is a HW Mozart recording from the 70's conducted by Tennstedt. I have it, but its with the BSO. Is this the one you were asking about?

Best wishes,

The file is in compressed (zip), so you can open it with any conventional software. I used 7-zip, which is free, to create a zip file. 7-zip also lets you extract zip files.

I signed up for FileServe, but all I can find is upload links. Is there any way to get to downloadable files?

Dear Ken,

I've had the same problem myself. Please paste the URL in my post on your browser, press return, and you will get there. If you have a Fileserve account, it will be faster if you logged in from that page. The login link should be on the upper right of the page.

Best wishes,

You need a flac converter application. You can do a google search for one. I used one called tunesify lite.

I use a X Lossless Decoder. It's free and works fine on Mac OSX.
