I just uploaded my new website. Check it out and let me know what you think. I'll be adding new things in the next couple of weeks. It's at:

You might include a repertoire list. When I go to professional clarinetists' websites that's typically what I'm interested in. That and discography.

I wish you well, but I am immediately put off by seeing "Dr" preceding your name. Yes, you have earned the degree, but let the diploma hang on your wall and leave the title on your resume. A web site should invite people into your practice, not intimidate them.

Nice clean design and sharp looking! I like how it is not wordy, too. The colors are complementary to your site focus. I liked your pictures used in the recording section and it looks as though you were the photographer. Just how close to that snake were you?
Your presentation list items would make good white papers to share on the site - or perhaps other topics of interest.
Nice job!

To all,
Thanks for the input. As I said, this is the first draft. I will be adding things over the next couple of weeks. No discography - that takes money to produce a CD. Will add rep list. Sorry the Dr. stays - if you earn a PhD why would you want to hide it. Also, if I'm presenting topics in a talk it give credibility to my talk in knowing how to do research and at a university that is important. Yes I am also the photographer and bird keeper.

Good beginning Doc. keep it going. Looking good so far. I don't have a problem with the DR but I would prefer DMA or PHD after your name but that's an individual preference. Did you steal the name idea from me? http://eddiesclarinet.com, sounds pretty close if you ask me. I don't mind as long as your name is Dan and not Eddie. ESP

Hey Ed,
I looked at a bunch of sites, your included. It's amazing how you freeze up when you got to give the site a domain name. It's got to be something easy to type and remember so my last name was out. That was almost as hard as finding a good picture of myself, you know something that wasn't from high school, something that my nose, ears, etc. didn't look twice as big, and still looked dignified like a concert artist.
Mine is a DMA but the OSU DMA was more like a PhD. We had 4 recitals plus a full size document (I think mine was 180+ pages). My topic was the emergence of the virtuosic bass clarinet in orchestral literature and an anthology of chamber music that includes bass clarinet.

It seems that the focus of your site is promoting your lectures so the "Dr." seems very much appropriate.
I like to see a repertoire/discography because I like to see who's promoting new music and who's playing the standard repertoire. Helps me figure out who I want to go see perform. It's really personal preference but it also shows what type of musician you are and gives some insight into your musical tastes and background.
