Help!...Does anyone know if there is a 1st clarinet part available for the Grand Canyon for A clarinet instead of B-flat? Trying to play it on b-flat seems absurd!

There are a lot of passages that are absurd. Sorry, Just transpose the sections you can't play on the Bb or practice, practice, practice. The bass part is no picnic either. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

I really enjoyed playing the GCS a few years ago (on bass clarinet), even though some of the key signatures were awkward. One of my personal favorites.

Clarinets and bass clarinet in A would be nice to have in this piece, no question. When I played the Bass part some years ago, the principal player -- from one of the top service bands, no less -- transposed his part, rather than deal with 5 sharps. Perhaps once the piece comes out of copyright, some kind soul will publish transposed parts for at least the 1st and 2nd.
