Hi
I have a selmer depose centered tone serial Q3111. It has been in the family for many years and I'm trying to date it. It has a c* mouthpiece.
Sounds lovely and I would just like to know a little more about it.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.

Based on that serial number it was probably made in 1955. The Centered Tone's are great instruments. I certainly love playing mine.

I also own one (a "Q"), great!
Steve's estimate is correct: 1955
This site supports it and also offers some background information regarding Selmer Paris clarinets (a nice site anyway)

I had a fantastic Q-series CT which had only the one owner from new (until I bought it in the late '90s) and I regret selling it on back in 2001 as I don't know where it ended up and I fear the barrel may have been shortened in the meantime which is what usually happens to them (and replacement 67mm CT barrels are very hard to come by).
Recently sold a very early CT (an N-series) to someone fairly local and she absolutely loves it - makes her Bundy sound like a toy in comparison.
They are by far my favorite model of all Selmer clarinets. If you are thinking of getting it restored, then take it to the best tech you can find as they deserve the best.
