Ligature Repair

I have a vandoren optimum ligature that is broken. The metal snapped at the bottom of one of the "V" logos on the side. Does anyone have tips /guidlines/advice for repairing this. I have never soldered before and am not scared to learn how.

It will have to be silver (hard) soldered to give it strength - soft soldering won't be strong enough for this application.

The finish (I presume it's silver plated) will be damaged but it can be cleaned up and polished after the soldering work has been done to look better, but to make the repair invisible it will need replating.

have you ever tryed a peter spriggs lig? it opens up the reed vibration by Like no other lig. I've had mine for five yrs. it is the only lig I use now. just look up his name online. spriggs clarinet ligature..com
