That's a good question. Does anyone know a good source for mouthpiece measurements in general?

Hi Peterm, Is your question that you own a Johnston J mouthpiece and want to know the tip opening? or that you are interested in obtaining one of these mouthpieces?

Hi Arnoldstang,
I do own a Johnston "J" mouthpiece so yes, I am just wanting to get a measurement (tip opening would be great/ anything else is a bonus).

You can visit someone in your area that refaces mouthpieces or purchase a mouthpiece refacing kit yourself.. Although these measurements are not a complete picture of your mouthpiece it does give information on two variables...tip opening and the facing curve. The tip opening was traditionally measured with a tip wand or more recently by a dial indicator. The facing curve is measure by feeler guages of different thicknesses. Many people use a set of .0015" , .010, .024, .034" feelers in conjunction with a flat piece of glass to lay the mouthpiece on. There is a yahoo group called mouthpieceworks that deals with this subject in detail.
