 Loose Tenon Ring
Author: kotsch

My tenon ring on the bell is loose, but there is no crack from what I can see. We've had extremely cold weather, but I do warm up my clarinet before playing it...I'd really like this ring to tighten again. Suggestions?

Humidify your case with Dampits or orange peels while the clarinet is packed up. Rings loosen because of dryness during cold weather (when we're using dry forced-air heat inside our houses). You just need to add a little humidity.

A strip of very thin paper can be applied under the ring to firm it up. Just thick enough to firm it but not too thick.
Make sure the ring is put back on the correct way round, usually a small chamfer on inside diameter and this should face inwards against the raised edge of the recess.
There are other methods also previously discussed on the board, try a search.
