I've been using a Buffet double attache case (old style) with an Alteri case cover. The zipper on the cover is headed south & I decided to try a new leather pouchette case but haven't paid attention to the covers available fro them. What I don't like about the current set up is that when the case is open, the cover falls off the top & makes it unsteady on my lap.
I have a pair of LeBlanc Backun clarinets that came in a Bam case. That's not an option because I don't like it. I don't really want a backpack style & prefer to have something that I can lift the case out of to place on my lap when getting the clarinets out. But an accessory pocket & one for music would be helpful.
I can't find close up photos of the Cavallero covers to see if that might work. I did see photos of the Buffet cover made for the pouchette case but that website leads me to believe it's no longer made.
Any suggestions about options & what works well would be appreciated. I'm not really concerned about the cost because it should last a very long time if it's well made.

I use own two of the single Buffet pouchette covers and a double; I
purchased them from WWBW and I really like them a lot.

These covers do tend to fall off the top when the case is open on my lap...but I just move my music stand closer and lean the case against it, which solves the problem for me. I also removed the shoulder straps from the double case cover and found that by doing that I can fit a collapsible music stand in the pocket that normally hides the shoulder straps.

For my Leblanc double case cover--an Altieri--to solve the flopping problem you describe, I used some velcro strips to secure the upper flap to the upper lid via the metal latchs on either side. Worked well to eliminate the flop when the case was opened. However, I think that I would prefer the Bam case and wonder why you do not.....(??)

I've also fixed the flop of the case cover with velcro...although I used an inch or two of the sticky back velcro from the craft store cut into 2 pieces. I stuck the soft pieces on the flat part of the case towards each corner and stuck the nubby sides onto the case cover. (Not a leather case.) Holds the cover perfectly.

Thanks for your help and comments. I have a Buffet double cover on the way. That's the one I thought was no longer available but should have it soon & hope it works out.
Someone asked why I didn't like the Bam case. I suppose I'm just accustomed to more "heft" that makes it feel better made than the Bam which is quite light in weight. My old case is very old but in great condition & it's quite a bit heavier. Since I only carry it from the parking lot to the rehearsal halls or auditorium, the weight doesn't bother me & it just feels like it's better quality. My whole goal in going to the pouchette case is to reduce the size.
