I think Sam Ash in Tampa may have what you're looking for.
The one in Clearwater does some fantastic repairs and overhauls or whatever you need.
They're all over. Also, Brass and Woodwind in Tampa is well respected.
You can get the directions online of course. Hope I could be of help!

There are horror stories of the Sam Ash and of Brass in Woodwind in Tampa. I would avoid both. I don't know if Sam Ash carries CSGs at all. They generally carry student instruments and occasionally an R13. The guy at Brass and Woodwind doesn't carry instruments except for trade ins and consignments anymore. Last time I went he had an old Leblanc in really bad shape and that was it. I am shocked to hear that he is well respected because no one at USF will even go near his shop anymore.
I strongly suggest you go through an internet retailer than stores in Tampa. Music Showcase is over in Brandon and they are suppose to be better, but I have never had experience with them myself.

Brass and Woodwind used to be a music student's staple! Granted, that was over a decade ago, but still. Sad to hear that they're not doing well.

Maybe someone elses mileage will be different. Took my bass to him three times for the same problem. Never got fixed. and I had to put up with a sales pitch about juice. I have heard stories from others at USF too so...

This is what I was afraid of. There just doesn't seem to be much in Tampa. I don't even know where people are getting their horns overhauled around here. Sam Ash is mainly a guitar and drums place.
And how can anyone buy an instrument over the internet? I'd wanna try it out first with a tuner.

They send you some. You try them all. Send ones you don't like back.
I sent my bass clarinet to Texas for John Butler to work on it. I just got it back last week and it feels better than new.
Personally, my bass clarinet came from midwest musical imports. They were great to work with.
I don't remember where I ended up getting my Bb from.

Sounds like it would take a lot of time and shipping expenses back-and-forth with insurance to try out a few instruments. So you actually had to send your instrument out of state to find someone who could overhaul it?

Time and shipping may seem like a lot. On the other hand, how much is it if you can't find what you want locally and compared to how long you are likely to keep the one you like?

I probably could have sent it somewhere in state to get it overhauled, but it seems people out of state are more recommended than the ones in Florida. The 'buffet guy' in Jacksonville is a highly recommended guy it seems. I don't know him, his name, or his number. And I play Selmers.
Shipping wasn't really that much. Since my bass is a Selmer Low C, I keep instrument insurance on it anyway so they cover shipping insurance. So it only cost me about $70 both ways. I would rather pay the $70, send it somewhere I know it will get done right, than take it somewhere here and have to take it back 3 times and it still not be right.
Shipping took 3 days from here to Texas, then 3 back. If a local music store doesn't have what you want, and you get them to order, I am sure it will take longer to get than 3 days.

So are there any online sellers that carry professional-level instruments that will actually let you try out an instrument, ship it back, try out a few others, and then pick one?
