Would anyone be able to help me with what date this piece was written, I have a publishing date for the Billaudot editon ( 1972 ) but cant seem to find a date anywhere for when this work was written,
Many thanks.

Groves & Oxford Online didn't have the dates; neither did the NYPL or LoC. Raphael Sanders did his DMA dissertation on Cahuzac, so he might be a good reference for you.

Not sure of the date, but wanted to share a great story.
Cahuzac is one of my favorite clarinetists. I also like Gino Cioffi very much.
Awhile back I was going through some music, came across a copy of Cahuzacs Fantasie variee. Opened up, and never noticed there was a message on the inside cover. Message reads:
"A Monsieur Cioffi,
clarinetti soloa la Boston Symphony Orchestra
En loute sympattice artistique (sic?)
signed,
LOUIS CAHUZAC Paris 1952
Cahuzac had beautiful handwriting-very florid.
So I have a copy of music, with a dedication from one of my favorite clarinetists, to another of my favorite clarinetists.
