I know there are proponents for both ways. Do you guys have any ideas about this? What you think are the advantages/disadvantages both ways?

I've done it both ways and I suggest you use the one that allows you to play it smoother and easier. The last few times I've played it I did a commination of the two using the A clarinet in the third mov't for the "slower" section and playing the rest of the piece on the Bb clarinet. I just find it easier to play some of the runs on my Bb. Try it both ways. ESP http://eddiesclarinet.com

I've always performed the first movement on A; years ago I heard Stanley Drucker say that he preferred this movement on A because of the "open" notes in the first theme (C Major Triad), even though the subsequent runs are more challenging on A (I'm sure neither presented technical difficulties to Mr Drucker, and the rest of us just put in extra time on those passages.)
