I replaced my wireless router with an Apple Airport Express after reading in David Pogue's NYTimes column that the Airport supported playing internet through home stereos. We find we're listening frequently to WFMT (Chicago) and were also able to hear tons of Bach from WKCR's annual two-week Bachannalia.
I'm using (free) Airfoil software (airfoil.com) although iTunes has the capability built in and others might do it as well.
One downside is that the Airport has no Ethernet output port so all networked computers must be wireless. Also Airfoil requires that UDP port 5353 be open and it took a while to discover that a patch was needed for my Webroot security software to enable that.

I've got a free download of iTunes software on my home computer and they have an extensive variety of streaming audio 'stations' in every genre. I think it's great.

I use the Itunes radio a lot too but usually just run the stereo speakers through my laptop rather than going through the router.

I get much improved sound quality through my stereo -- and it plays in our computer-less living room. I might have mentioned that the connection from Airport Express to stereo amplifier requires a 3.5mm Stereo Male to Two RCA Stereo Male Y-Cable.
