 Kegelstatt Trio Recordings

Hello,

I am planning on doing the Kegelstatt Trio as part of my junior recital and I was pondering what some of your favorite recordings are. I hesitate to just start downloading random ones off of Itunes in hopes that they are good because I don't like the little snippets of a lot of the recordings on there.

For those curious, it will be paired with the Erdmann Bass Clarinet Concerto.

Wright has a lovely recording

The Boston Chamber Music Society recording (Tom Hill, clarinet) is very good

I like the Karl Leister / James Levine / Wolfram Christ version, especially for Levine's piano playing .

I also recommend the Gervase De Peyer version with members of the Melos ensemble.

Montanaro on Boston Records.
Ditto on the H. Wright recording.

(I have a PSO Wqed fm broadcast that I recorded of Michael Rusinek clar. w. Jonathon Biss pno, P. Zuckerman viola from Pittsburgh Symph. which is quite good, but not avail. commercially.)

Allan -

Can you make it available noncommercially to members of the forum?

Ken, I do not have a way to upload that amount of music. I can not even email more than a small snippet.

I agree with Mr. Piercy and for exactly the same reason.

Jack Brymer has a nice recording. Also Richard Hosford's is very good, although possibly out of print.

I have a really nice period instrument recording by Lawrence McDonald. Sometimes I'm a bit skeptical about period instrument performances, but this one is beautiful, and it's especially interesting and useful for studying the work, as it brings out a whole new character to the piece.
