Many musical baby toys have only these notes!

What memorable tunes can you play?

Some starters:

'Jingle Bells'
'Ode to Joy'
Ultravox 'Vienna' ...

Any more ideas?

Sheesh -- what a way to bring up a kid who's a few notes short of a scale! If the toys went all the way up to A, you could do "Pop Goes the Weasel." Oh well.

Nope. You can only do the chorus of "Jingle Bells." To add the verses, you need all the naturals from G to G.

I wonder why these toys don't have a full scale?

Lightly Row, Mary Had a Little Lamb, Go Tell Aunt Rhodie (if you aren't fussy about the octave of the pickup between verses).

If they would add only A there are a lot more songs that can be managed within a sixth. Any beginner book uses most of them.

Good one, Nogu! :-)

But, oddly enough, the joke can become a genuine suggestion for a child old enough to talk and understand speech -- and understand that the silences are important in music.
