Today , I tried my Buffet F3A 125 mouthpiece that I used for many years to fixed my bonade ligature when I dropped it on the ground.
And surprisingly, I like it!
Recently I tried the buffet bass clarinet mouthpiece come with the RC Prestige Bass Clarinet and I like it more than my Vandoren B44, less open and easier to play altissimo.
Now I like the Buffet F3A more than my M15 and 5rv lyre for 12 years on Vandoren.
It's just amazing...
For the facing, if 125 is the measurement as the Vandoren, then it's between B40 and B45 lyre, these two are definitely too open for me. So may be the Buffet mp have longer facing so it feel less open than B40?
Any thoughts?
Thank you!

You really only need one mouthpiece and the rule is: If it plays good, it is good.

When I only had the stock Buffet bass mouthpiece to use (after breaking my crystal one and having lent out my Vandoren) it sounded even more like farting in a tin can than normal.

That's funny...
Let me explain a little bit here.
For the bass buffet mouthpiece, I heard the bass clarinetist from Boston symphony orchestra use a German brand mouthpiece
http://www.esm-mouthpiece.com/englischeversion/clarinetbassboehm/index.html
which also make the mouthpiece for buffet. So actually it's not a bad one. For me, B44 is still quite open and the Selmer C* is too close, and seems the Buffet stock mp is in the middle, thou I didn't really measure it.
For the soprano clarinet buffet mp, I think the material is not good as vandoren as the timber produced is not so good, but as a large opening mouthpiece , I like it more than the B40. Just feel better on the buffet mp.
I don't know how to make a B40 work for me seriously. I use something close like M15 and M13lyre.
BTW, I used to play on Hawkins B model for a year. It's good too. I can't get that sonority from the Vandys.
