 Who is/was Lorenzo Sansone?

I recently purchased an old bass clarinet from a reputable dealer. I got a great deal on it because it was a "Lorenzo Sansone" brand. The horn is grenadilla wood and has two octave keys in the back. The only markings on the horn are "Lorenzo Sansone" "New York" "Made in France." I read somewhere that he was a performance artist and arranger in the 40's or 50's - but I'm not certain... I'm trying to guess at the age of this horn and I'm guessing that it would have been manufactured while he was still a big name. Has anyone ever heard of him??

The only Sansone I recall was the manufacturer of horns.(French horns)
He was well known for manufacturing the "single Bb" horn and promoting its use. That's all I remember.
