 Old Clarinets w/ pix

On December 12, there will be an auction in France of over 900 old instruments, including many boxwood clarinets. They're scattered through the list, but it's worthwhile to step through.

http://www.interencheres.com/ventes_aux_encheres/RESULT_vente_venir_1clic.php?rm=1&form_id_sscat=210&vue=liste&odb_a=dateorder&ss_a=asc&num_art=0.

I hope this is far enough from eBay to get past the prohibition.

Only to hang on the wall, I think. I've tried a couple, and they were nearly unplayable.

There's a Buffet F alto clarinet (or basset horn to low E) in boxwood: http://www.interencheres.com/ventes_aux_encheres/enchere_illustree_1clic.php?clef_vente=201012110006&clef_etude=03001&clef_article=1058

... and a couple of basset horns:

Isn't that auction on December 11?

I've been looking at that one today. I was puzzling over the anonymous Piccolo clarinet in Ab "?"... I asked for the length, and it's 32.5 cm (12.8") with mouthpiece. As a proper Ab sopranino is 35.6 cm (14"), this must be a Bb piccolo clarinet. But looking carefully at the photos, as well as the low estimated price (80 euros) I'm beginning to think that this is more of a children's clarinet than a real sopranino. I think it might be plastic, and it looks somewhat crooked...

There's a Bb soprano Couesnon Monopole (no mouthpiece), their top-of-the-line clarinet, with a pretty low estimated price. I think there was also a full-Boehm Buffet with a similarly low estimate.

Only one metal clarinet, and a surprising one at that: Oehler-system, plateau keys, by G. Huller (who??).

There's a lot of distortion in the photographs makingn things look warped. The Ab piccolo might be a high pitch one, so it may be nearer a piccolo in A than Ab.

G. Hüller is a very well known German woodwind maker.
