Hello all! I just went to the Leblanc website and noticed a new of clarinet. It's an Opus II. Does anyone know much about these instruments? The article doesn't really describe the instrument very well. Are they even available through music dealers, or just direct from the company? Also, mostly along an economic line of thought, what company owns Leblanc? I've been playing the stock market game lately, and I'm curious about that. I have no idea what (if any) stock records it has.

Leblanc is its own company. No one owns them.

The Opus is the top of thier line. It is a real fine horn. everyone should own one or two of them.

Perhaps this is the Millenium Edition rebadged for 2001 and beyond. Looks like the significant change from the "stock" Opus is the adjustable mechanisms. I have an Opus and I love it.

The Leblanc ads in The Clarinet refer to the "beautifully sculptured keys" on the Opus Millenium Edition. The Leblanc site says the same about the Opus II. Also, the C#/G# key for the left little finger has the same snake-like shape in both pictures.
Leblanc wouldn't have retooled to new key designs just for a 1-year promotion. Pretty clearly, the Opus II is the same as the Millenium. We could be sure if the Leblanc site had shown the right little finger keys, which are quite distinctive.
