What do you guys think about inverted ligatures? Do they sound a lot different than 'traditional' ones? Thanx for your input.

I like them, Bonades etc, cant see much tonal diff. but play better with them!! Don

The basic theory regarding "inverted" ligs is that instead of the "sqeezing" pressure exerted by traditional screw-on-front types, the inverted pressure is more evenly distributed in a "pulling" fashion. This enables your reed to last longer and play more resonately. Most "pro" players prefer the inverted styles, Bonade especially!!!! Hope this helps. Good clarineting.

I feel even tired reed with inverted ligature does play. This may mean we recognize its death abruptly. Besides, traditinal ligature's pressure distribution on reeds can be adjusted by the fastening forces of upper and lower screws.
There are many clarinetists who sticked or stick to traditional ligatures. Harold Wright, Drucker, De Payer, Lancelot. All world class soloists. I like Bonade
traditional ligature(gold plated) far better than its invereted one. I feel invereted one let my sound lose resonance and agility. Of course this is a matter of preference.
