 Jean Montour?

Just had delivered an Ebay special, $15 shipped to my door, its an old grenadilla simple system clarinet marked "Jean Montour".

Can't find ANY info on this maker, probably a trade name.

The cool thing is.......its an A HP clarinet! What a find for the price. Should clean up just fine, the barrel has a crack and it needs a repad, but it has everything it needs, even the original wood mouthpiece!

But who made Jean Montour?

used as a trade name by Francois Jean Baptiste Martin who succeeded to ownership of Martin Freres in the 1880's. Can't find anything else on the name.

Martin of France. Did they make good stuff? By all accounts this is a nice clarinet!
