I made a post yesterday asking for help on how to clean my reed case because i thought me having not cleaned it a while was the source of the problem with my moldy reeds. But now that I look at many of the replies many people have stated that the source comes from the reed case it self and not me having not cleaned it. Is the problem the vandoren reed case itself? If so can anybody recommend me any other type of reed case that might be more effective in maintaining my reeds?

I have used those Vandoren reed cases without any mold problem. If you clean it thoroughly you shouldn't have any serious problem with it. But you'll need to take it apart; the part against which the reeds lie can be removed from the bottom section, just pull firmly. Disassemble the case into the three pieces (plus the charcoal insert), clean each well with soap and water, and let it dry. I have had a mold problem in the past with a glass-plate Selmer case. After a good scrubbing with soap and water the mold did not return.
