Yeah, I saw that too. What a sales pitch. Must be a retired Army recruiter.

Rule #1 at any auction -- only bid on something if you *know* what it is, independently, and if you *know* what it's worth (ballpark, at least). Don't "guess the dealer must be right." This is the kind of deal that gives auctions a bad name, even though it's the buyer's own fault.

Hey,

I looked up the seller's comments. He has 37 positives out of 37. This guy could be the next Jim Bakker!

When I first saw it I too thought it looked new, etc. However, when I looked closely, it looked a little more complicated than any the the Lyres in my junk pile -- a not insubstantial sample given how many marching band clarinets I have bought on eBay. So, I concluded that I simply didn't know enough about this one to know whether it was anything special. Does anyone know anything about this for sure?

Jim, I have a pile of Lyres, too. I must admit I have never seen a Buffet Logo or Trademark on a Lyre before. mw

Does anyone have any examples of any (truly) Antique Lyres? How about quasi-Antique .... say 60+ years or so? ((I have always been told that a true "Antique" is circa 100 years old. Of course, that is an approximation, as well)) mw
