 AG mouthpiece
Author: Megham

I had a first lesson with a student from Korea today. He is playing on a Buffet E-11 with an AG mouthpiece. I can not recall any other writing on the mouthpiece and have never heard of this brand before. Does anyone here know anything about it? He sounds decent on it for a beginner, but I want to be sure he is not fighting his equipment as he is also puffing his cheeks. I also don't want to ask him to get a new mouthpiece if it is not necessary. I also have some Fobes debuts he could try if he needs a new mp. I did try the search, but there are seemingly a million posts on mouthpieces and none on the AG. Thanks for your help!

A different marking for a Gigliotti perhaps, since those are his initials. I doubt it though.

Do you know if it's plastic or hard rubber?

I'm curious to see if someone knows for sure!

Does the piece have anything other than "AG" on it? Where was the "AG" placed? What about ligature lines?

The fear of infection from mouthpieces has reached ridiculous proportions. It's no different from kissing your girl friend.

Tell your student that you can't give him anything worse than diphtheria or tetanus and then play his setup yourself.

You can if you bite really hard.

Most likely a crap Gigliotti plastic remake of his good mouthpieces.

Bet Fobes would be a lot better.

Thanks for your help. I did a search on Gigliotti mouthpieces and found it is a Gigliotti Spectrum. I am doing more research now and will decide whether or not to switch him to Fobes soon.

Spectrum is a piece of crap. I have a red, and a blue one just to laugh at.
