The CSO doesn't need Alessandro, although he is very talented. They have John Bruce-Yeh who is equally capable--perhaps better.

I have nothing against John Bruce Yeh, and I'm sure he would make a fine principal, but I thought the position was still open and that there was only two people considered for the position:
Olli Leppäniemi and Alessandro Carbonare.

and I simply *love* Carbonare's playing, not just the showoff pieces like the youtube clip.

Yeah. He's good. I liked the traditional stuff that used to play in the background on his page a few years ago when I first visited. I'm sure he'd do a fine job as a principle, but I wonder if he'll be happy with that position.

There are three people being considered for the position: Alessandro Carbonare, Olli Leppäniemi, and Patrick Messina.

I'm just a fan of John Bruce-Yeh and think he would do an excellant job as principal. It's strange that audition committee's are so quick to dismiss "home town talent", do a global search and eventually pick someone who is really no better. I do think Alessandro would be the best pick of the three mentioned above, although there is probably not that much real difference between them and any one could fill Larry Combs seat.

FWIW, I wonder if the audition committe has mentioned the fridgid gale force winds that blow constantly off Lake Michigan directly onto the door of Orchestra Hall during most of the winter?? Alessandro, Olli & Pat--are you reading this........??

I have not heard any confirmation of this.
