There has to be more here than meets the eye.
Having lived in southeastern Michigan my entire life, I have seen lots of strikes, by students, teachers, musicians, auto workers, you name it. I have heard the operative words, read the signs, heard the press releases, watched the tensed faces, and found out later what really happened. Timelines constructed after-the-fact can be real eye-openers.
I would hope that the press here would track down statements from both sides and see if they hold water, but am typically skeptical. In another few months, lots of people will be surprised by what actually transpired.

I hear the loss of pensions and health benefits are being discussed...that's an understandable concern, but the idea that talent follows money is a sad one.
